The elusive results for the 2006 Colorado High School championships have materialized, and are available for download at Information/Forms. (Scroll to the Skiing/Racing/Training Documents section near the bottom; the Nordic Results sheet has eight pages within the file -- results for girls, boys and teams for each day.)

Congratulations to Noah Hoffman of Aspen and Brittany Perkins of Summit for winning both races, and to Summit High School skiers for winning both the girls' and boys' team competitions. (Only three points for both days combined seperated Summit's boys from Aspen's!)

Today (Monday, February 13, 2006) is the final day for OJ/J1 skiers hoping to qualify for the Rocky Mountain Nordic Junior National team to submit USSA National Ranking List or FIS points to John Callahan for race substitution.

Coaches and club have been made aware of this via e-mail in the last week -- but if this information fell through the cracks, here you go:

Three big skiing events allegedly took place this weekend in Colorado: Western State College's NCAA RMISA races in Crested Butte; the Owl Creek Chase in Aspen; and CHSAA High School State Championships in Winter Park.

We say "allegedly" because the only evidence we've seen of weekend race action is from Crested Butte. [Yes, Google has been strenuously employed in the search for results.]

Results from today's (02.11) and yesterday's (02.10) Western State College Invitational NCAA/RMISA ski races, held in Crested Butte, are available for download at Information/Forms.

There are two versions of Friday's men's skate results -- one with college-only skiers, and one which includes non-collegiate athletes. No non-collegiate athletes raced in the women's event. We are waiting for a results list which includes non-collegiate athletes for Saturday's classic races. They will be posted when received.

Robel Teklemariam (representing Ethiopia, and formerly a Colorado Rocky Mountain School and Rocky Mountain Nordic skier) was issued a five-day start prohibition from the International Ski Federation this morning for having a hematocrit level higher than the allowed 17.0g/dL.

Teklemariam joins 11 other Nordic athletes, including Americans Kikkan Randall and Leif Zimmerman, who received the start sanction.

It must be stressed that this is a health consideration, and in no way represents a positive test for doping.

Please read the letter from Andrew Gardner, coach at CRMS, on this matter:

Here is a link to an article from the Durango Herald, with an article about Tad Elliott and the Scando trip.

If you read the last article, I say something in there about trying to post articles after the races. As you can tell, that didn't happen.

That being said, the final Scandinavian Cup trip report, which gets everybody back in the US.

From an e-mail from Gary Giberson:

"I sit on the National Cross Country Committee representing the Mountain Division.  I received this communication from Luke Bodensteiner who is the director of USSA Cross Country skiing.  It is news that needs to be shared with the entire cross-country community here in Colorado.  It is very good news."
