Woelk Wins!
RMN Speedster Jamie Woelk (Gunnison) made the most of her college racing debut at Soldier Hollow last weekend. Skiing for Montana State University, Jamie led a trio of MSU Bobcats in to the top three slots in Sunday's (1/14) 10 km Mass Start Skate Race. All three MSU skiers finished within a single second. Ashley Quiggle (WSC / Gunnison) was 15th and Brittany Perkins (WSC / Summit) was 20th
It was an historic day for college ski racing in the US, as with California native (and CU Freshman) Matt Gelso winning the mens race, Sunday was the first time in the history of College Racing in the Western US that American nordic skiers have won both the mens and womens events on the same day! Take that, Europe! It also marks the first time that two Freshman skiers have won on the same day.
Go Jamie, Go USA!
On Saturday, RMN girls skiing for Western Schools had a solid day as well, with Jamie finishing 6th, Sarah MacCarthy (Utah / Steamboat) in 8th, Brittany Perkins (WSC / Summit) in 14th and Ashley Quiggle (WSC / Gunnison) in 16th.
