Senior Nationals Begin Tomorrow

The training is done, the skis are prepped, there's snow on the trails -- it's time for Rocky Mountain Nordic skiers to head to Soldier Hollow and represent at Senior Nationals!

On the line are berths to the Olympics, U23 World Championships, World Junior Championships and the J1 Scando Cup -- not to mention some little things known as "National Championships."

It's an Olympic year, so Nationals this year take on some special meaning. It's hard to say for sure who will be named for the trip to Torino, but some Rocky Mountain Nordic skiers are in the mix -- Rebecca Dussault and Kevin Hochtl with the strongest chances. Other seniors with RMN ties who should be adding something to the racing include Sarah Konrad, Tami Kochen (possible for U23 as well), Tara Sheahan, Nathan Schultz, Eric Meyer, Casey Ward and Fredrik Landstedt.

For the juniors, with World Junior and J1 Scando Cup trips up for grabs, it's all about who brings their A-game. Last year, Glenn Randall made the WJCs in Finland, and Simi Hamilton, Colin Struthers, Sylvan Ellefson and Jamie Woelk made the Scando trip to Norway. No doubt the success of RMN contemporaries loomed large in many skiers' heads while training this past year. Hopefully, the junior contingent that races can improve on last year's impressive efforts.
