In an effort to bring as many cross-country skiers into the Rocky Mountain Nordic fold, it was announced yesterday that Seniors and Masters will have the opportunity to race at Junior Olympic Qualifier events this winter.
This is the mandate:
"There will be (at minimum) one open race for non-juniors per JOQ weekend. The focus of these races will be on participation; entry fees, race distances and formats should be carefully chosen so as to encourage as many competitors as possible. No Colorado Cup points for non-junior skiers will be awarded to clubs."
All senior and master skiers, including coaches and parents, are strongly encouraged to take part in these events. Rocky Mountain Nordic memberships will soon be available for these age classes as well.
It is the intent of RMN to have a well-organized race series for non-juniors skiers. Look for more progress towards this goal in the coming seasons.
