Jason Cork is named as Executive Director of Rocky Mountain Nordic

Effective Nov. 1 Jason, currently head coach of Durango Nordic, takes the reigns of RM Nordic.

Jason Cork accepted the position of Executive Director of Rocky Mountain Nordic effective today. Jason is the head coach at Durango Nordic and has coached at Crested Butte and Fairbanks. He takes over a position that has been vacant for 7 months.

The hiring committee of three, 1 former RMN coach and 2 parents, had to make a difficult choice between well qualified RMN insiders. They made their recommendation to the Junior Competition Committee(JCC) which is made up of a coach from each team who voted to accept the hiring committee's recommendation. The Board of Directors then ratified the JCC's vote.

Jason's position will be very similar to that of Jeff Banks when he was Executive Director for the 2 prior seasons. There are, however, 3 key differences in the position today: 1) The RM Nordic 'Head Coach' title is no longer part of the job description. The JCC feels that they have the resources within the JCC to perform this function, 2) there is a new Board of Directors which Jason must help coordinate with his position and the JCC, and 3) fund raising coordination is one of the top tasks of this position.

Jason's primary day-to-day contact will be the JCC but he will also be working with the board of directors on strategic matters. Please join the Board, JCC and Hiring Committee in congratulating Jason and in their offer of support as he takes over his new responsibilities.
