RMN SoHo SuperTour Report

It was a good weekend for RMN Athletes and Alumni at the SuperTour in Soldier Hollow... Click here to read more and to see some photos of the races...

This weekends SuperTour races in Utah were very well attended, and RMN was well represented by current RMN Athletes Kevin Hochtl, Mark Iverson, Brittany Perkins, Miles Havlick, Ian Mallams, Evan Elliott, Rogan Brown, Paige Elliott and Briana Perkins, as well as a bunch of RMN Alumni, including Ryan Scott, Noah Hoffman, Ian Havlick, and Austin Ross.

A few images...

Ian Mallams (27), Mark Iverson (14), Senior Classic Sprint Rounds...

"Big Man" Mark Iverson (#14) and Ian Mallams (in white) in the Senior Men's Sprint Quarter Finals. Ian was 6th in his quarter, as was Miles Havlick in the next quarter final. Both gained great experience and learned how fast the big guys ski... Iverson came to within a few feet of the finish in a solid 2nd place, ready to advance, but fell while trying to throw his foot (both of them, actually) just short of the line. He scooted accross on his butt to claim 4th in the heat.  Kevin Hochtl, 3rd place last week in Bozeman was also eliminated in the quarters.

Big news in the sprints was the success of the junior men in the open field. Two juniors made it to the A Final... Reid Pletcher from Sun Valley (#2) and RMN Athlete Ryan Scott (#9), from Boulder, now skiing for Montana State. Reid went on to finish second behind former World Junior Sprint Champ for Norway, Even Sletten (Utah).. Ryan got tangled up on the big climb and fell, finishing in 6th place. These are HUGE results in a loaded field!

From front to back, Reid, Ryan and Ivan Babikov (Russia) in the Semis

Paige Elliott (#3) and Briana Perkins (#2) skiing in the Junior Bracket Semi Finals. Both girls advanced to the Junior A Final and skied to 2nd (Bri) and 3rd (Paige) places!

RMN Alum Noah Hoffman from Aspen, now skiing for Sun Valley skied to an amazing 5th place in the 15 km Freestyle Mass Start.  Noah has proven himself to be one of the very best distance skiers in the US this season, junior or senior.

Juniors Paige Elliott, Rogan Brown, Evan Elliott, Ian Mallams and Miles Havlick all had solid distance races as well. Here, Miles flys up the Bridge Hill on his way to an overall 24th place finish (5th junior).

The Russian Slayer showing us what it takes to be the best... The big winner in the 15 Km Free was Russian Canadian, Ivan Babikov. Here he is, getting forward on the last hill... Ivan is a world class skier who represented Russia in the 2006 Olympics.
