First Annual Pumpkin Run!
On October 28th Summit Nordic Ski Club held their first annual Pumpkin Run. The ‘Pumpkin’ part of this will remain the same in the future, but if we have the good fortune of snow in years to come we will certainly change this to the Pumpkin Ski.
The contest involved a group hike/run for about 1 hour on one of the Frisco Nordic Center trails. There were five teams, but all of the teams started together. The glob of people also had to pass a small pumpkin among them throughout the hike. When they discovered pumpkins scattered near the trail they set out to find a larger pumpkin. There were four pumpkins hidden in the woods that were numbered 1-4. The fortune of having pumpkin #4 was that you had your first choice of carving pumpkins when we returned from the run. The misfortune of having pumpkin #4 was that you had to carry the big guy all the way back to the Nordic Center lodge.
The rules were loose, the costumes were pretty good, but the experience was perfect for further team building. If anyone would like to join us next season we will surely tighten up the rules, and crown several champions (Pumpkin carving, Costume, and Pumpkin Hunting).
See you on snow,
Summit Nordic Ski Club
